Devices that work

Praana never connects to a watch directly. It reads Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, so anything that writes to those works, whatever the brand on it.

The short answer

If it writes to Apple Health or Health Connect, it works

Apple Watch, Fitbit, Oura, Whoop, Garmin, Samsung, Xiaomi, Amazfit and the rest all work on the same terms: whatever they put into your phone's health store, Praana can read. Several at once is fine too, which is common if you wear a ring at night and a watch during the day.

This also means there is no integration to wait for and no account to link. If a new device writes to the health store, it works on day one without Praana being updated.

The real question

Not which device, but which measurements

Because the health store reports data types rather than hardware, what decides whether a feature works is what your device records. Three measurements carry most of the app:

Heart rate variability
Required for the stress score, and nothing substitutes for it. This is the one worth checking before you buy: some bands, and some bridges into Google Health, sync heart rate but not HRV. Heart rate alone will not produce a stress score.
Sleep
Any sleep record at all produces a sleep score. Devices that also report REM, deep and light stages produce a fuller one; devices that report only total time still get a score, capped, with the app explaining why.
Resting heart rate
Used alongside HRV to read the stress trend. Almost every wearable reports it.

No wearable

What still works on the phone alone

Most of Praana. Your phone counts steps by itself, and eleven of the thirteen features never needed a wearable in the first place: food, meal plans, workouts, blood reports, cycle tracking, body composition, the journal, medication reminders, hydration, Ara and the news feed.

Praana does not hide those screens behind a device you do not own. Only the two scores that genuinely need one say so.

Scales

Body composition

A smart scale that writes body fat and lean mass to the health store shows up in Praana automatically. Without one, you can enter weight and measurements by hand, and the trends work the same way.

One platform difference worth knowing: on Android, Praana can write body composition back to Health Connect. On iPhone it reads what Apple Health already holds and does not write those values back.

Apple Watch

There is a watch app

The Apple Watch app is included with the iPhone app, with nothing separate to buy or install manually.

There is no Wear OS app yet. An Android phone paired with a Wear OS watch still works, as long as the watch writes to Health Connect.

Around the phone

The parts you use without opening the app

  • Two iPhone home-screen widgets: one for your cycle, one for the medication you have due. Both update without the app being open.
  • A workout Live Activity. Start a session and it sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can check the set you are on without unlocking anything.
  • Siri shortcuts, so common actions can be spoken or triggered from a Shortcuts automation rather than tapped.

Not supported

Things Praana genuinely cannot see

  • Any device that does not write to Apple Health or Health Connect. There are no direct brand integrations to fall back on.
  • Chest straps during a live session. Praana reads what gets recorded, not a real-time stream.
  • Blood pressure written from the phone on iOS. Apple does not allow ordinary apps to write blood pressure, so on iPhone Praana can only read it. On Android it can write it.
  • Sleep apnoea detection. Praana can show what an Apple Watch has already flagged on iOS 18 and later, but it does not detect it and that is not a diagnosis.

Still unsure about a specific model? Ask on support with the model name and what it syncs. OS versions and storage are on requirements, and the first-fortnight picture is on how it works.
