Why one app

Most people tracking their health seriously are running three or four apps. Each one is good. Together they answer fewer questions than any of them could alone.

The problem

Four apps, four half-answers

The sleep app knows you slept badly. The training app knows you have intervals scheduled. Neither knows about the other, so neither can tell you the one thing you actually wanted to know this morning: should you do the session.

You end up as the integration layer. You read four screens, hold them in your head, and make the call yourself before coffee.

What changes

Things only possible when the data is together

  • Your blood report changes your meal plan. Low ferritin shows up as what to eat this week, not as a number you meant to look up later.
  • Your cycle phase changes your training load and your nutrition targets, rather than being logged in a separate app that nothing reads.
  • Last night's sleep and this month's stress trend are read together, because high stress on good sleep is a different picture from high stress on bad sleep.
  • Ara answers from all of it at once. Asking one app about data held in another is not a question it can answer.
  • One export for a doctor's appointment, not four screenshots.

The trade

What you give up

A specialist app usually goes deeper than Praana does in its one area. A dedicated running app knows more about running. A dedicated food app has a larger barcode database.

Praana is the trade in the other direction: slightly less depth in each area, in exchange for the connections between them. If you only care about one of these things, a specialist app is the better tool and that is a fine answer.

Practical

The boring reasons it is better

  • No subscription at all, against three or four that each want one.
  • One set of health permissions to grant and understand, not four.
  • One privacy policy to read, and one company holding the data.
  • One account deletion that actually removes everything.
  • Both platforms from the same account, so switching phones does not mean starting over.

Not claimed

Where Praana is behind

  • It is new. A five-year-old app has found bugs Praana has not hit yet.
  • No third-party integrations beyond Apple Health and Health Connect. If your device does not write to those, Praana cannot see it.
  • No web app. Everything is on the phone.
  • No social or community features, and none planned.
